The Orient

Tibet

Best time to be there

The severe climatic conditions and great discrepancy in daily and seasonal temperatures are due mainly to the high altitude. Mid-spring, summer and early autumn get rather warm. Early spring gets cold, especially in the mornings and at night. A similar climatic situation applies to the late autumn and winter months.

Tibet Holidays

Tibet is located in the highest region of the world, which is why it is often referred to as the 'Roof of the World'. The capital, Lhasa, is home to the world Heritage site of Potala Palace, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas. The 15th century Palkhor Chode Monastery at Shigatse, Tibet's second largest city, is worth a visit due to its beautiful murals. Gyantse is a tradtional Tibetan town and is famous for its wool and carpet production. Whist Tibet is off the normal tourist trail, vistors will receive a warm welcome from the locals.

We offer modern international-standard SUVs that are easy to drive, superbly comfortable and defy the quality of ordinary rental SUVs in China; providing your Chinese driving license and insurance and even an experienced driver if you would rather sit back and relax.
